Breast milk Jewellery Information
A piece of jewellery that carries your and your child’s story; a piece of love
My name is Mirka Jasmin, and I’m the only producer of the breast milk jewellery in Finland. I’m a qualified goldsmith with 8 years of experience in jewellery making, which ensures the high quality of BM Jewellery™.
I developed the method of storing breast milk in jewellery resin myself. This creates a totally unique, light-milk coloured stone. BM Jewellery™ doesn’t contain any artificial colourings.
General information about breast milk jewellery
Each BM piece is perfectly unique. The surface or the colour of the stone may be uneven. The colour varies depending on the colour and viscosity of the milk. The stone may also contain small milk or resin bubbles or streaks. Its colour may turn more yellow over time.
The breast milk stone is made of colourless resin, to which the breast milk gives a light colour. The stone is covered in a clear, transparent protective varnish suitable for jewellery. I can use either fresh or frozen breast milk to create the stone. You need to send approximately 2 tablespoons of milk for one piece of jewellery.
The metal parts used in BM Jewellery™ are always of high quality; either 925 Sterling silver or 585 (14K) yellow gold (95% resycled). Several beautiful chains and leather cords are also available for the pendants. Upon request, I can include a graving on the back of the pendant or on a separate silver plate. Contact me for a quote for longer engravings. You can find additional parts for BM Jewellery™ from the online shop, including Swarovski crystals, freshwater pearls, gold or silver leafs or separate name plates.
I don’t recommend BM rings for hard daily use. The stone is comparable to pearl or opal, which become scratched in hard daily use. Pendants and earrings are less likely to scratch than rings, so they tend to endure daily use better.

Looking after your BM Jewellery™
As a rule of thumb, your BM piece should be the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off. This is to prevent irritants, such as hairspray and perfume, from causing any damage to it. Take off your BM piece before showering, swimming or sleeping.
When you’re not wearing your BM Jewellery™, keep it in a sturdy jewellery box at room temperature and away from direct sunlight.
Breast milk jewellery are easily cleaned with mild washing up liquid and water solution. After wiping with the solution, rinse and dry it well. Silver parts can be cleaned with a silver cleaning cloth.
BM Jewellery™ should be checked carefully and regularly for any signs of reparable damage, such as thinning or fractures. You should also check your BM necklace that the lock on the chain has not opened further than it should. Silver is a fairly bendy material, and the lock’s hoop can bend too far when unlocking it.
If you notice any signs of strain or damage, contact Jasmin Design via email and we’ll be happy to help you.
